I’ve taken this Commuter Challenge thing to a whole new level. I like to come up with new ways to get to work by selecting different routes and modes of transportation. Since I have been doing this for over a year now, people are always asking me how I got to work today? So in this blog, I share my experiences in my travels. I hope you find this inspirational and that you too might find alternative routes and break from those usual patterns. Go ahead, try something new today!

Ride the Bicycle to work

Rode in on the Gary Fisher 16.5 miles one way

This morning ride was pretty cool. I woke up at 5:30am and was out early.

When people ask if I am afraid to ride in the city of Detroit, I tell them there is no one out in the city of Detroit this early. Here are the pics to prove it. One look at these and you will want to come out and ride with me.

In the pic below is my start at 15/schoenherr. The sun to the right is about to rise.

Here is my route to the city. Schoenherr straigth out to 8 mile.  In the burbs, I have to ride on teh sidewalk :-(  I hate the burbs.  Since there is no shoulder room I have to be very careful.  Plus the Warren people south of 11 mile do not look for bikers.

Ahh Yes!! Finally I hit 8 mile.  This means I  can ride in the road as soon as I cross this street.

Look at this. Open roadway just for me.

I am almost there. About an hour into my ride, I can see the promise land.  Look at the sun to the right - what a great way to start the day!

See you on the road
-Jason
